Feeling my way, but its seems to be moving

Its funny. When we were young our parents would tell us not to be so fussy with our food because there were kids starving in Africa who would be happy to eat it. And now we have re-settled our first African family to our suburb from an African refugee camp. I find the young boy picks bits off his pizza he doesn't like, while the little girl simply doesn't like eggs....but chocolate seems to have universal appeal. Actually, it may have more to do with what they have been exposed to. They still like their beans and pitta bread.

We had a fund raiser dinner with the local Amnesty International last week and raised some money. It was hosted by one of the comedians who used to star along side Steve Vizard in TV's Full Frontal. Excellent news though, it looks as though we are ready for our second family with an exceptionally extravagant single donation on top of the evenings funds.

It seems like interest is generating slowly but surely. I am thinking of doing a web page with an advert in the local paper directing readers to practical ways to help. That way we could have a column with items needed for families, pics, ways to donate/join, funds progress, and general info. Perhaps even a forum for discussing the issues. Another idea might be to launch a shop down the track where re-settled refugees could sell their authentic crafts.

Its all guess work at this stage as we continue the venture. I am hoping some of the churches might even be interested in getting involved but I do find they are generally more concerned with their own visions..anyhow who knows!

That's wonderful news! Sounds like you are going really well with all this. You might be able to get some churches involved but don't discount 'their own visions' because much of the time these are God given, just as yours is. Isn't it funny how each person does have their own 'fussiness' when it comes to eating and thats universal!
